Jellyfish alternatives: 7 tools compared, October 2026.

Sources last reviewed

Jellyfish is a software engineering intelligence platform sold by quote; its smallest listed contract is $30,800 a year for 15 seats.[1][2] Its seven alternatives below range from free plans to annual contracts, and differ most in how they read AI coding.

Jellyfish sells three modules (AI Impact, Developer Productivity and DevFinOps) priced by seats and modules, and says most teams see adoption and spend insights within days.[1][3] Its pages show 4.5 of 5 on G2 and on Gartner, and Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for developer productivity insight platforms (2026) named it a Leader, with Atlassian (DX), LinearB and Swarmia.[1][4][5][6][7]

Zest gets you:

  • Zest Pro: $49 a month for 5 engineers, seats included. Jellyfish, from $2,567/mo for 5 engineers: the smallest AWS Marketplace bundle, $30,800 a year for the platform and 15 engineering seats (read October 4, 2026).[2]

Facts from each vendor's own pages and AWS Marketplace listings, dated in the sources below; Zest's row is from its own pricing and product.

LinearB: PR automation for 50+ developers

LinearB acts on pull requests: programmable workflows (gitStream), AI code reviews and generated descriptions, next to DORA metrics and AI adoption. Its pricing page says Essentials is built for 50 or more developers, bills at least 50 users and connects GitHub Cloud only; forecasting and capitalization come with Enterprise. Pick it to automate review in a large org. It reads AI use from Git and tool data, not from the agent's sessions.

Swarmia: free under 10 developers

Swarmia is free for companies with fewer than 10 developers, then sells modules from $5 a developer a month for AI adoption and cost. It shows usage and cost per person for Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot and Codex, priced at token list prices, and posts a daily summary of the team's work to Slack or Teams. Working agreements, surveys and capitalization are there when you need them. Pick it for a small team that wants delivery metrics for free.

DX: surveys and system data, now Atlassian's

DX has been part of Atlassian since November 2025. It started with developer experience surveys and the Core 4 framework, which takes in DORA, and measures AI code with a daemon on each laptop that tells AI-written lines from human ones. There is no free plan or self-serve trial. Pick it to run a survey program next to system metrics, especially if you already buy from Atlassian.

Span: agent traces plus finance reports

Span reads the agent's work, as Zest does: hooks in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and other agents record each session's prompts, MCP calls, skills and tokens, joined to the pull request. IT installs them through MDM. Span also covers allocation, capitalization, R&D tax credits and surveys, at $45 a contributor a month on an annual contract. Pick it to keep Jellyfish's finance reports and add agent traces in one tool.

Waydev: any Git host, or self-hosted

Waydev connects GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps or Gerrit, and its Enterprise plan runs self-hosted with on-prem Git. It bills each active contributor, and its free Start Up plan covers 10 repositories. Premium compares Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code and Windsurf on cost per commit, pull request and feature. Pick it if you are not on GitHub or must keep the data on your own servers.

Weave: a model score for every pull request

Weave, once called Workweave, scores each pull request by how long an expert engineer would take to complete it, and reports output, quality and reverts per engineer. It reads AI use from Cursor and Copilot APIs, git co-authorship and labeled estimates. Starter is free for basic use and Pro is $42 an engineer a month, billed yearly. Pick it if you want one comparable output number per pull request.

Zest: what each engineer's coding agent did

Zest is ours. A plugin or extension in each engineer's coding agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot Chat, Grok Build or Hermes) reports every session's model, tokens, skills and MCP tools, joins it to the pull request it led to, and writes each engineer a daily standup. Starter is free for 3 seats; paid plans are priced per workspace. It has no DORA metrics, surveys, capitalization or PR automation, and works with GitHub only.

How to choose a Jellyfish alternative

Start from what you use Jellyfish for:

  • Capitalization and R&D tax credits next to delivery metrics: Span, or Jellyfish itself.
  • A developer survey program: DX, or Swarmia's survey module.
  • Rules and AI review on every pull request: LinearB, at 50 developers or more.
  • Fewer than 10 developers: Swarmia's free plan, or the free plans of Weave, Waydev and Zest.
  • GitLab, Bitbucket or a self-hosted install: Waydev.
  • What each engineer's coding agent did, session by session: Span's traces or Zest's sessions.

TRY IT ON YOUR TEAM

See what your team ships with AI.

Starter is free (3 seats, no credit card). Pro is $49 a month with 5 seats and Max is $149 a month with 10 seats — priced per workspace, not per engineer, with extra seats at $19 a month.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Questions

How much does Jellyfish cost?+

Jellyfish doesn't publish prices: its pricing page says pricing depends on seats and modules. Its AWS Marketplace listing offers the platform with 15 engineering seats for $30,800 a year (checked October 4, 2026).

Is there a free Jellyfish alternative?+

For a small team, yes. Swarmia is free for companies with fewer than 10 developers, Waydev's Start Up plan and Weave's Starter cost $0 with fewer features, and Zest's Starter is free for 3 seats (checked October 4, 2026).

Does Zest calculate DORA metrics or software capitalization?+

No. Zest measures AI coding (agents, models, skills and sessions) and pull request throughput and cycle time from GitHub. It doesn't ingest deployments or financial data.
